Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This weeks topic is: Cover Redesigns I Loved/Hated
Let’s Split this to 5 Loved Design Changes and 5 Hated Design Changes
Starting with the Loved Changes
I really Like this cover change, I personally prefer the cleaner simplistic look that this change took. The older design was busy and really did not fit Kova’s style of writing in my opinion.
The new paperbacks are my absolute favourite. The way the spines align to make a very pretty bookshelf (*swoon*). The old covers weren’t terrible, I just really love the design change.
The old design was childish and did not portray the chaos and mystery of this read. Again, I really enjoy the simplistic direction that the new design took.
I feel like this one should be on absolutely everyone’s list. Glow in the dark ….. need I say more.
5. I can not think of one right now that could fill this slot. I have gone over my shelves twice looking for more but I guess 4 of 5 isn’t bad.
Onto the Hated Changes
This change is the first one I thought of when I read the hated part of this meme and I am really not sure why I dislike this change so much, but I truly prefer the original design.
I absolutely hate when a design change is made before a series is completed and because this series did this I could care less what the new design is because it will not look pretty on my shelf.
3. Movie Covers
I will finish this list with my biggest bookish peeve. When a publisher releases a movie design cover my blood boils…. if I wanted the movie design I would have purchased the movie not the book.
Again I can only come up with 3 of 5 for the hated design changes. However #3 covers an abundance of design changes. Sorry I will do better next time (lol)
